Visiting Your Pharmacist for a Refill: What to Have Ready

A short checklist to make your My Pharmacist NB refill fast and smooth.

Quick answer

A little prep makes a refill quick. Bring your medication (or a photo of the label), know your other medications and allergies, and be ready to tell your pharmacist how you've been doing on it.

Have these ready

Before you head to the pharmacy, gather:

  • The medication name and dose (the bottle or a photo of the label is perfect).
  • Any allergies and other medications you take.
  • Roughly how long you've been on it and how you've been doing.
  • Your phone, if you'd rather join a nurse practitioner visit from your own device instead of the pharmacy's counselling room.

Then let your pharmacist take it from there

Ask your pharmacist about My Pharmacist NB. They triage you, renew the medication if it's within their scope, and otherwise book a video visit with a New Brunswick nurse practitioner for you on the spot. The prescription is sent to your pharmacy. You'll be told if anything else is needed.

Start at your pharmacy

See your pharmacist today to book an appointment. Nurse practitioner visits are a flat $79, at select participating pharmacies across New Brunswick.

How it works

Frequently asked questions

You don't need to recall the exact dose from memory. Your pharmacy already has your dispensing history, and a clear photo of your medication label shows the medication name, its strength, and the directions for use.

If anything is unclear or missing, your pharmacist or the nurse practitioner will confirm it with you before completing the refill.
